PlayStation 5 Pro console with DualSense controller

PS5 Pro vs PS5 Slim: which one should you buy?

, by la3eb, 1 min reading time

Both consoles play the same games. Here is what actually differs, and which one fits your TV and the way you play.

The PlayStation 5 Pro and the PlayStation 5 Slim play exactly the same PS5 games. What changes is how those games look and run, how much storage you get, and whether a disc drive is in the box.

Performance

The PS5 Pro has a faster graphics processor, which Sony says renders up to 45% faster than the standard PS5. It also adds PSSR, an AI upscaler that sharpens the image, and more advanced ray tracing. In games marked PS5 Pro Enhanced you get a sharper picture and a higher, steadier frame rate at the same time. On the PS5 Slim you often choose between a fidelity mode and a performance mode.

Storage

The PS5 Pro comes with a 2TB SSD and the PS5 Slim with 1TB. Both have a slot for an extra M.2 SSD if you fill them up.

Disc drive

The PS5 Slim Disc Version has an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive built in. The PS5 Pro does not include a drive. If you own games on disc, or want to buy them, add the PS5 Disc Drive, which clips onto the Pro.

What is the same

  • The full PS5 game library and PS4 backward compatibility
  • DualSense controller in the box
  • 4K output, with 120Hz and VRR on TVs that support them
  • A vertical stand is sold separately for both

Which one is for you?

  • Choose the PS5 Pro if you play on a 4K TV with 120Hz or VRR, care about image quality, and want the extra storage.
  • Choose the PS5 Slim if you want the best value, play on a 1080p or 60Hz TV, or want the disc drive included.

Either way, browse PS5 games and extra controllers to go with it. We deliver across the UAE.
