Buy with the console
- Tempered glass screen protector, AED 23. The cheapest insurance you will ever buy for a AED 1,757 screen. Buy.
- A carry case. Three sensible options: the basic black case at AED 66, the Nintendo official carry case at AED 147, or the all-in-one case at AED 427 that also holds the dock and cables.
Buy in the first month
- Switch 2 Pro Controller, AED 266. If you play on the TV, this is the upgrade you will feel most. Full-size grips, GL and GR back buttons, a headphone jack and long battery life. Switch 2 Pro Controller.
- Joy-Con 2 charging grip, AED 171. Charges a second pair of Joy-Con 2 while you play with them in a proper grip. Charging grip.
Buy when you need it
- Extra Joy-Con 2 pair. AED 256 for the standard pair, AED 341 for the purple and green or blue and yellow pairs. Needed for four players in Mario Kart World or Mario Party.
- microSD Express 256 GB, AED 218. Only microSD Express cards work for Switch 2 games. The built-in 256 GB holds a lot before you need this. microSD Express 256 GB.

Frequently asked questions
Do original Switch Joy-Con work on Switch 2?
They pair wirelessly for games that support them, but they do not attach to the Switch 2 and cannot be charged on it. Joy-Con 2 are the ones that clip on.
Does the original Switch Pro Controller work?
Yes, wirelessly, for most games. It lacks the new C button and GL/GR buttons of the Switch 2 Pro Controller.
Which microSD cards work?
Only microSD Express cards. Older microSD and microSDXC cards can only hold screenshots and videos on Switch 2.
Does the official carry case hold the dock?
No. The official case holds the console with Joy-Con 2 attached plus a few game cards. The all-in-one case holds the dock, adapter and cables as well.
